Hunting Unlimited
Modern Cabin
Stay in our Modern Cabin. Hunt, or vacation in Western South Dakota.
HUNTERS come and hunt the area that is full in antelope and both mule and white tail deer! Along with as many rabbits and prairie dogs as you can handle! There is a couple of ponds and or dams that are near the sometimes dried up "Antelope Creek" for cows which help draw in some good water fowl. The cattle are run seasonal, as to not interfere with your hunts. Ducks, geese, cranes, are usual, but pheasants, and grouse run the country side almost year round!
Mountain lions are spotted once in a while that come from the Slim Buttes ( a small section of the Black Hills) hunting and fishing are permitted in the Slim Buttes as well. Local farmers offer hunting and a the few that don't post it. Fire danger is high this year and smoking is strongly looked down upon because of the sensitivity of it. Take along water, gunny sacks, and high powered walkie talkies in case of accidental fire from bullets or other.
A guide is available upon request.
Custer State Park
"The Slim Buttes" are a small version or part of the "Custer State Park" which is in the Black Hills 90 miles from the "Slim Buttes". There is a small dam to fish and the buttes run nearly 20 miles long! There are camping spots and trails all through them, and historical interest also! After the "Battle of the Little Bighorn" or "Custer's Last Stand" the tribes of Sitting Bull and others scattered and a few were camped out on the east side of of the "Buttes".
Some soldiers of the 7th Calvary were on there trail and they caught up with them. Three soldiers were killed there and their graves are on a hill near where they were killed to view.
Hunters will love the Buttes because of the lush wild life! Mountain Lions are known to run frequent in the Buttes, but I have not heard of bears running around. Deer, antelope, some elk, ducks, geese, wild turkeys, grouse, and pheasants run wild here.
Rangers frequently on watch.
